Project Description
Total Construction was awarded the contract to design and construct this new purpose-built, gated self storage facility for Swift Storage. The buildings were designed with steel frame structures constructed on structural concrete panels, with external clad in lightweight steel offering durability, cost-efficiency and a clean, modern appearance.
Total Construction also delivered an external concrete hardstand to accommodate vehicle access, complemented with minor landscaping works to enhance the overall visual presentation of the site.
Overcoming Challenges
One of the more technically challenging components of the build was the delivery of a suspended slab on bored piers over a rock batter, requiring careful engineering from the team.
Innovations
During the design phase, the team investigated the use of tilt panels over precast in the build methodology, ultimately adopting this approach which offered greater constructability, efficiency and cost-effectiveness for the client. Drawing on our extensive experience in delivering regional projects, the Total Construction team proactively established a strong local presence through subcontractor networks. Building these valuable relationships with local subcontractors was imperative to support the project delivery.
