Kennards Self Storage Macquarie Park

Total Construction was contracted to deliver this new five-storey, 7,482m² facility with two goods lifts for Kennards Self Storage in Macquarie Park. The base structure was constructed with a concrete post tensioned frame with a structural steel roof portal frame, which was clad in Colorbond to match the Kennards Self Storage corporate colours.

The first three floors of the facility were fitted out with 291 storage units, and the upper levels remained vacant for future development. The scope of works included both wet and dry fire systems.

Working on the Kennards Self Storage head office site, which included an existing operational self storage facility, required significant coordination and planning with Kennards Self Storage operational personnel.

All materials handling was performed either by crane or materials hoist. Client access was reconfigured on days where cranes were being used or concrete pours were taking place. Total Construction effectively coordinated with the client to minimise the impact on Kennards Self Storage’s ongoing operations including staff and customers.

The adoption of a post tensioned structure with the inclusion of Bondek floor plates ensured a quick and efficient construction.
