Storage King Pimpama

Total Construction delivered the design and construction of a modern new Storage King facility in Pimpama, Queensland. The facility features two separate buildings of three levels. The team incorporated traditional construction methods including bored piers, slab-on-ground and concrete columns supporting upper slabs. The structural design for Levels 1 and 2 incorporate post-tensioned slabs and the roof structure is comprised of structural steel and Colorbond roof sheeting.

The team faced several logistical challenges during the project, with long lead times for some trades including lifts, structural steel and roofing. The team leveraged early procurement strategies to mitigate the risk of delays and maintain the project program. Total Construction ensured partnered subcontractors were aligned with the program to minimise the time frame of the build.

During construction, there were continual price rises for base products such as concrete and reinforcing steel. To overcome this challenge, the team obtained a commitment from suppliers to lock in prices for the duration of construction.

To improve efficiency, Total Construction worked on both structures simultaneously to ensure both structures were completed within the specified build period. These innovative approaches enabled Total Construction to deliver the project to the client in a timely and cost-effective manner.
