Project Description
Construction of a new 102 bed residential aged care home.
This project involved the construction of a state-of-the-art Residential Aged Care home with 102 beds, implemented in 3 distinct stages.
The project aimed to provide enhanced facilities for elderly residents, incorporating modern design elements and improved operational efficiency. The venture not only met but exceeded industry standards, resulting in the prestigious achievement of winning the Master Builders Excellence in Construction Award in 2023.
Stage 1 – Initial Demolition and Construction (50 Beds):
The first stage encompassed the demolition of existing residential homes and the construction of a new aged care facility with 50 beds. A significant feature of this phase was the incorporation of an underground parking facility to optimise space. Upon completion, residents from the existing nursing home were transitioned to the new facility, facilitating the commencement of the subsequent stage.
Stage 2 – Additional Construction (52 Beds):
The second stage involved the demolition of the existing nursing home and the subsequent construction of an additional wing with 52 beds. This meticulous process allowed for a phased approach, ensuring minimal disruption to the residents’ daily lives, while simultaneously expanding the overall capacity of the facility.
Innovations
One of the key innovations was the strategic alteration of the face brick used in construction. The original documentation specified a costly material, but through careful evaluation and collaboration, a more cost-effective alternative was identified, resulting in substantial savings for the client without compromising quality.
