Two-storey extension to an existing aged-care facility

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project was for the construction of a two-storey extension at the Allity Lexington Gardens aged-care facility in Springvale.

The work encompassed the addition of 38 beds to their existing residence, which offers both permanent and respite care.

The construction comprises post-tensioned, suspended floor slabs with an external combination of fascia brickwork and Hebel panels to merge the extension seamlessly with the existing building.

The majority of the new rooms boast a private balcony, courtyard or garden.

Works also included a new commercial kitchen and laundry to service the entire facility.

Sections of the existing residence were also refurbished, including the lobby, reception and administration areas, a new hairdressing salon and café. The existing level-1 servery and dining area, stores and WCs were also refurbished.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

Mindful of the necessities of an operational facility, we accommodated operational requirements into our program.

Design changes were also catered for to deliver a facility of which we are incredibly proud.
