HammondCare 'The Glens'
Project Description
Total Special Projects is proud to have successfully delivered the staged refurbishment of HammondCare’s ‘The Glens’ aged care home in Caulfield, VIC.
This was our second project delivered on this site, following the successful completion of a multi-purpose building at HammondCare’s Caulfield Village.
The project involved a staged refurbishment of internal areas within an operational aged care home, requiring careful planning, coordination and sensitivity to residents, staff and visitors throughout the works.
The scope comprised:
- Demolition of selected existing walls, ceilings and floor finishes
- Refurbishment of internal spaces delivered across three stages
- Reconfiguration and refurbishment of new parlours and med rooms
- Installation of a new laundry and bin chute
- Upgrades to existing kitchen areas
- Transformation of Back of House (BOH) spaces into open-plan, mixed-use areas
- Refurbishment of a maintenance office
- Construction of two new pergolas within the resident courtyard.
Overcoming Challenges
Working within a live aged care environment required careful management of noise, dust and safety while minimising disruption to residents and staff. Through detailed staging, clear work zone separation and proactive communication with HammondCare, the team coordinated works around daily operations to maintain continuity of care and deliver the refurbishment safely and efficiently.
