Woolworths Metro Mosman

This project comprised the development of a Woolworths Metro supermarket via the partial demolition and redevelopment of the existing buildings at 731-741 Military Road, Mosman including the retention and rehabilitation of the existing Military Road building façade.

The 1,450m² site consists of several distinct terraced retail two-storey shop top housing buildings which form part of the Mosman Junction town centre.

The project scope included for the partial demolition and redevelopment of the existing buildings, the retention and rehabilitation of the existing heritage façade, construction of 20 space car park spaces, a loading dock area, 520m² of retail space on the ground floor ready for a Woolworths Metro fit out and a first floor general office, staff kitchen and produce preparation area.

Retaining and supporting the existing façade and having to build around temporary structural steel members before removing them once the structure was complete was an intricate removal process. Reusing the demolished bricks as our recycled brick veneer façade. We also re-used roof tiles, timber windows frames, timber architraves, existing structures and pavers as part of our Greenstar point scheme. Low voltage disconnections of the existing 6 lots during the construction phase consisted of 1 week of night works along Military Road footpath, which involved continuous communication with the neighbours for noise, power outage’s and safe management.
