Project Specifications
Full civil, structural, internal and external fit-out and upgrade works to an existing bakery.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Total Construction was engaged to carry out works to enable an increase in capacity for bulk loading and unloading of bakery products. The construction of a new roll on/roll off dock was required and it was imperative that it met OH&S regulations.
Internally, we removed all existing fibre ceiling tiles and replaced them with hygienic sandwich panels. We removed existing steel floor ties which were replaced with a new epoxy slip-resistant floor.
The building protection was upgraded with the installation of a new fire sprinkler system and the installation of lighting, including emergency and exit lights to conform to the latest BCA Standards. Site security was improved by way of the installation of automatic remote access gates.
Staff amenities were reconstructed to accommodate for an additional number of employees.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
The site was closed for four months for the works to progress. To meet clearly defined client deadlines, program scheduling and project handover were critical. Total agreed on high liquidated damages, however these deadlines were achieved and the transfer of key manufacturing back to the site enabled a smooth seamless transition for production to commence.
