AUSTRALIA’S LARGEST MOBILE CONCRETE PUMP IN ACTION, STORAGE KING ROBINA QLD

Total is currently constructing a new 5 storey Storage King Facility for the Abacus Property Group. This project in the Gold Coast suburb of Robina will be a significant addition to the Storage King Franchise. This will be Total’s Qld’s fifth Storage King Facility constructed in the past 4 years, continuing a long history of delivering successful Storage projects, and we hope it will be the first of many for the Abacus Property Group.

Due to the large footprint of the site and limited access, Total required the largest mobile concrete pump in Australia to pour the top floor of the building.

The 63m boom allowed us to reach the back of the building on the 4th floor with the addition of only a small hose mitigating the risk of injury through moving static hoses and pipes across the slab, and speeding up the placement process as a result.

The project is preparing to pour the 4th floor suspended slab, followed by blockwork to the 4th floor and then structural steel and roofing to follow. The lower floors fit out is scheduled to commence within the next fortnight and the office area slabs are being poured next week ready to commence these fit out works also.

The tower crane is proudly displaying Total Construction signage which is a first for us on the Gold Coast. The site is positioned beside the Q Rail corridor and the M1 Freeway which allows for thousands of people to see our advertising every day!

There have been some testing times on this project with over a year’s amount of rainfall in a 6-week period over the Christmas break and early January.

Whilst Queensland’s reputation as the Sunny State did experience this rainfall, this is an exciting project that we are proud to be involved with. With all the challenges that have been thrown the project’s way, the original project completion date of end of August is still within sight and we look forward to a successful handover to Abacus.

Good work Team QLD!
