TOTAL supports one of their own Josh Millard in the Property Industry’s Wipeout Dementia Event 2022

More than 55 million people live with dementia worldwide, and there are around 10 million new cases every year. Dementia has physical, psychological, social and economic impacts, not only for people living with dementia but also for their carers, families, and society.

This year TOTAL is proud to be supporting one of their own as he takes to the water. Josh Millard, a Project Manager at TOTAL, will be one of the 64 surfers participating in the Property Industries Wipeout Dementia, taking place on Friday 25th March at Bondi Beach.

Josh says, “I have participated in the event for a few years now. It’s a fun and meaningful event, and it’s great to have TOTAL’s support and sponsorship. Often raising awareness about dementia is focused on an older demographic, but surfing is an intergenerational sport, and the community is strong and supportive. Every person, young or old experiences dementia differently, and if we can raise awareness and show support to families through holding Wipeout Dementia, then collectively we can make a difference in these people’s journeys.”

TOTAL joins over 50 organisations with one vision and one goal – To raise awareness of dementia and raise over $300,000 to fund The Dementia Momentum, a CHeBA (Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing) initiative to advance large-scale, big data research into the prevention of dementia.

Event Ambassadors Richard Grellman AM (Chairman, IPH Limited and former Chairman of ASP International) and 1978 World Surfing Champion Wayne “Rabbit” Bartholomew AM see this as a way to give back to the community in a meaningful way by raising funds for critical dementia research.
