Total’s Directors Steve Taylor and Bill Franks have supported and encouraged mentoring culture throughout our business. Mentorship is one of our core values at Total and Total’s Pathway Program provides one of the main avenues for mentorship in our business.

This program provides an opportunity for our employees who are just starting their career in the construction industry to receive mentoring from various people in our business while gaining broad construction experience and exposure to working in different departments and roles in our business.

Some of our most successful project staff at Total have been through the Pathway Program and we currently have 20 employees in the program.

In recognition of the Program, and the participants past, present and future we’re also hosting a dedicated Cadet month this August. Amongst virtual workshops being held for all staff to help them understand the Program and its modules, we will be holding our second quarterly National Pathway Program conference, which provides all participants across all 3 states an opportunity to get to know each other and key members of our team.

The late Paul Fraser, a former leader within Total Construction, is the inspiration behind the Pathway Program. The annual Paul Fraser Pathway Program Award recognises the efforts of a standout Program participant in particular.

Paul was for many years Total’s Business Development Manager. He pointed us towards aged care as a developing market sector and introduced us to the food and beverage industry. A saying of Paul’s, which remains close to our hearts to this day, is that ‘we need to train the young ones’. Paul was passionate about encouraging and training the next generation, and through this legacy we hope to do Paul proud.

“Harnessing the talent and enthusiasm of our future leaders is something we’re passionate about at Total”
– Steve Taylor, Managing Director, TOTAL
