Construction of a 3 storey self storage facility
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Following a client design brief, Total commissioned consultants, completed design and documentation to obtain approvals for Construction Certificates.
Construction of the self storage facility involved erection of 9 metre high pre-cast concrete panels for perimeter walls and propped off ground slabs. Formwork was erected for two suspended post-tensioned concrete slabs for Levels 1 & 2. Conventional formwork was used for lift shafts, columns and stair shafts.
Structural steel was erected for the roof. Other areas of perimeter walls were clad in metal sheeting, and feature glazing walls to the office and retail spaces. Two passenger lifts were installed.
Stormwater amplification works were carried out on Cook Street and new driveways constructed to access the facility. The existing pavement area on the south side of the site was reconstructed with new stormwater, concrete slabs and landscaping.
Fit-out work includesd the installation of Storco prefabricated storage units, disabled access facilities, retail space, an office area and communications room.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
A limited materials handling area with the building footprint landlocked and restrictions with access and power lines on Cook Street frontage.
