Construction of a multi-level Storage King facility

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Total have been engaged to construct a Storage King at Taren Point. The core of this structure will consist of utilising suspended slabs, structural steel and metal roofing, then followed by external works to complete the project.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

The land has been classified with soil contamination being largely in the form of methane gas. The project team must engage (on behalf of the client) a consultant to manage the process of soil contamination. The construction method will be to remediate the site, which will take approximately 3 – 4 months to complete.

Extensive work is also required on the facade. It is critical to ensure that scaffolding and mobile equipment has sufficient work space to allow other works programmed to occur around the façade are not affected.

INNOVATIONS

PT Slab with Joints were utilised to avoid the use of a welded membrane. This potentially saved the client $250k and saving Total extensive time spent during the remediation process.
