Project Specifications
Construction of a new 134-bed, high-care, aged-care facility.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Total Construction was engaged by McKenzie Aged Care to deliver its new four-storey, 134-bed high-care facility. Designed by Fender Kasalidis Architects and Winward Engineers, the development will provide high-quality aged-care accommodation.
The Lower Ground Floor incorporates services, including laundry, catering, amenities and storage.
The Ground Floor combines a reception area, administration offices, residents’ rooms and communal areas.
Level One comprises residents’ rooms, pharmacy, administration and extra services.
Level Two caters for further staff amenities, training rooms and offices.
The floors are serviced by three separate lifts.
Total worked closely with McKenzie Aged Care and the design consultancy team to ensure the highest quality outcome for the most economical cost.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
The in-ground/civil works started in the wet season and there was a local stormwater easement running through the middle of the site which was monitored. Due to access restraints, the shape of the building was commenced in stages.
