Refurbishment of 8 residential care wings in a live environment

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Total was contracted to refurbish all eight wings of an existing residential care facility in Macquarie Park.

The scope of works included;

  • Staged refurbishment works
  • Demolition and replacement of eight serveries and kitchenettes
  • Replacement of all common area flooring
  • Painting of all walls and doors throughout the facility
  • Reconfiguration of ceilings and fire services to facilitate lighting up-grades

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

The project was delivered in a live environment with differing care levels wing to wing. Flooring installation was managed through daily communication with the facility, additional resourcing and pre-approved methodologies implemented for each individual wing. The adaptability of the project team and trade partners ensured successful flooring installation in all wings.

INNOVATIONS

In order to handover a fully refurbished facility prior to the Christmas rush, Total condensed their programme to reduce the time onsite from four stages to three. All areas were handed back to the facility one month early.
