Renovation of an existing aged care facility
For our second project with Allity, we delivered the Design & Construct of renovation works at their Claremont Terrace aged care facility in McKinnon, Victoria.
Initially engaged on an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract, Total assisted with the design development to the 75% and 100% stages of the project prior to award of the project through negotiated tender.
The scope comprised a new commercial kitchen, laundry, construction of a new café and the upgrade of common areas including living and dining areas.
Works also catered for the upgrade of concierge desks and staff room facilities. We also split a number of bedrooms to increase resident capacity to 170. The new rooms include four penthouse rooms.
Landscaping works to the perimeter of the facility were also completed.
All of the works were completed whilst the facility remained fully operational and was therefore carried out in 8 stages.
The construction program was developed to best manage the works and ensure minimal disruption to the facility operations.
Through the design phase, Total assisted the client to overcome some design challenges and temporary relocations of critical services. The existing electrical kiosk was upgraded with Total managing the coordination of works and impact on the home during the changeover.
This is our second project with Allity, and our fifth with Project Managers DCWC.
Guy has a wealth of experience within the construction industry. With roles as Design Manager, Project Manager, Construction Manager and General Manager, he has successfully completed many projects over the 22 years in the industry. His project portfolio includes sectors such as health, commercial, industrial and residential – new constructions, refurbishments and fit outs. Guy’s strength is his strong collaborative skills, and ability to bring the best out of people and a project.
