Topping Out Ceremony

The Angel Storage project in Lidcombe has reached a major construction milestone with the successful completion of the Level 4 suspended slab and topping out of the structure.

Since commencing lift and stair foundations in October 2025, the project team has now completed the main structural concrete works, marking a significant step forward in the build. Reaching this point reflects the dedication and collaboration of our site teams, consultants, subcontractors, client and partners who have contributed to the project’s progress.

To celebrate the occasion, our site and office teams came together with the client and project partners for a BBQ, recognising the hard work and commitment that has driven the project forward. Honouring an ancient Scandinavian tradition, an evergreen tree was raised to the highest point of the building to commemorate the occasion.

Project Structure Statistics

The scale of the Angel Storage development is reflected in the substantial structural works completed to date:

Building Heights:

  • Ground Floor to Level 1: 4.2m
  • Level 1 to Level 2: 5.6m
  • Level 2 to Level 3: 3.6m
  • Level 3 to Level 4: 3.6m
  • Level 4 to Roof: 5.5m

Structural Components:

  • 3 Lift Cores
  • 4 Stair Cores
  • 41 Columns per Floor
  • Post-Tensioned Slabs (2 pours per level)

Quantities Delivered to Date:

  • 449 tonnes of reinforcement installed
  • 4,238m³ of concrete supplied and placed
  • 16,573m² of floor slab area poured

Overcoming Challenges

The team have overcome several challenges during the structural phase that required careful planning, coordination and innovation.

The large heights between Ground Floor and Level 1 created additional complexities, requiring extensive scaffolding and edge protection around the cores to manage work-at-height activities and mitigate fall risks.

The project team also navigated reinforcement steel supply challenges early in the programme, with machinery breakdowns at ARC’s fabrication yard impacting deliveries and delaying initial pour sequencing. Through proactive coordination with suppliers and subcontractors, the team successfully minimised impacts and maintained project momentum.

Looking Ahead

With the main structural concrete works now complete, the focus shifts to the next stages of construction, including:

  • Structural steel installation
  • Internal stair construction
  • Suspended entry and exit ramp works
  • Façade glazing and cladding
  • Roofing
  • Building services installation
  • Storage unit fit-out

As the project progresses into its next phase, this topping out milestone provides an opportunity to recognise the outstanding efforts of everyone involved and celebrate how far the project has come.
