Refurbishment and extension works to an existing aged care facility.
Total Construction was awarded the project for the refurbishment and extension works to three buildings (St Josephs, Larmenier and St Marys) at the existing aged care facility.
The project was a five-stage build involving refurbishment works and the construction of new rooms. The critical path works sequence was driven by the number of available beds in the facility which involved the relocation of residents to complete the works.
Common-area works were also factored into the build time.
The main challenge with this project was the bed movements and maintaining safety and construction efficiency within a fully operational environment. This involved extensive consultation with the internal and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth build.
