Construction of 5 levels of self-storage unit behind an existing Kennards facility

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Project consisting in demolition of the existing office building and storage facility. Construction commencement of the new 5 storey facility incorporates concrete frame construction with light weight cladding. The fit out of the storage units were only to ground, 1st and 2nd floor, for the rest of the floors to remain vacant for future use. The buildings complements 2 other existing storage buildings located on the premise.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

Compliance of building material such as the use of ALPOLIC had to be changed to a compliant called Vitracore G2.

The facility is to remain trading throughout construction with no disruption of service. To accommodate this, Total undertook early works to ensure that the customer base had a new access point away from the construction zone.

INNOVATIONS

Ground anchors were used in lieu of piles to reduce costs to client and speed up construction.
