Project Specifications
Design and Construction of 32 light industrial units with surrounding pavements and landscape
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The scope of works included;
- Installing screw piles across 2 areas in order to create a suitable platform for the building slabs
- Pouring and lifting the tilt panels to create building A and building B shells
- Installing the structural steel and roofing to close each building
- Pouring concrete pavements and installing surrounding landscape
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
The project was built over an existing 500mm deep capping layer, beneath this was highly contaminated soil that contained asbestos. Excavation works were extremely slow and difficult, all activities required asbestos monitoring and special PPE.
INNOVATIONS
Significant cost savings were made on the project by using tilt up construction rather than precast or other conventional construction methods.
