Design and fit-out of a 2000sqm pie manufacturing facility at Prestons NSW.
Baked Provisions approached Total Construction to design and fit out an existing 2000sqm warehouse facility, located at Prestons NSW. The facility was previously a transport dispatch centre and needed to be fitted out to produce 8000 pies per hour.
Baked Provisions engaged Total’s Food & Beverage Division on an Early Contractor Involvement agreement and work commenced in late 2016 on designing the ideal layout of the facility with Baked Provisions’ stakeholders. Total produced the final design drawings for costing and submitted Development Application documents to Council for approval.
Total was signed on a Construction Management (open book) Contract and works began in April 2017.
Total proposed the use of freezer containers in place of building a new freezer, which enabled the client to utilise operational expenditure and reduced the overall capital expenditure for the project. The freezer containers were designed into the layout to ensure they would not pose any hygiene issues in Baked Provisions’ production process. They were built into the fit-out with PIR panelling. Wall plugs were provisioned in the PIR panelling to ensure ease of egress of the containers in the future.
