Upgrade of existing fire service at a multi-dwelling building
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Total delivered the upgrade of existing fire services at a multi-dwelling building in Croydon – comprising 104 individual unit blocks over 3 levels, including basement car parking.
The upgrade has provided a fully fire engineered wet and dry sprinkler system to meet compliance standards.
The scope involved the installation of a new fire sprinkler system across all apartments and common areas, a fire detection and warning system and smoke detectors.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
The upgrade works were permitted to continue through COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns. Managing access to the apartments at agreed times as well as working around residents themselves who were working from home was at times challenging. Open and clear communication channels ensured there were minimal issues and delays.
INNOVATIONS
Through negotiation with the fire services contractor, we were able to complete the fire penetration works for $37k less than the the PC sum allowance.
