Project Specifications
Construction of a new Science Block and classrooms
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Total Construction have completed the construction of a new three new science laboratories, two new male and female toilet blocks, three general learning areas (classrooms), counselor quarters, home room, offices and a commercially equipped kitchen area for tuck-shop use.
The 2 storey structure comprised of combination of block work and structural steel for the wall and roof system and concrete slab (both on ground and suspended) and a Bondek suspended system for the flooring. The finishes included a variety of products to suit the functionality.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
It was a requirement that the College remained operational during construction works. There were a number of procedural requirements including daily communications between Total’s delivery team and the College.
Transportation and access routes to the College were restricted, so we had developed a robust schedule, ensuring deliveries did not interfere with peak drop off / pick up times.
INNOVATIONS
Total’s estimating team produced an alternative product and design cost plan for the benefit of the client. We were able to utilise the most cost-efficient design, products and methodology without compromising the quality or functionality of the building.
