Project Specifications
Alterations and additions to an existing early intervention childcare centre.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Total Construction was awarded the contract for the development of a new childcare centre for Pathways, a not-for-profit, registered charity that provides a range of services to children with learning and physical disabilities.
The scope comprised alterations and additions to an existing community building owned by Marrickville Council. The works included demolition, expansion of the ground floor to include a new entry, reception, therapy room and minor works to existing spaces.
A second level contains an open plan office, meeting room and kitchenette. A new, limited-mobility lift completed the works.
Sylvana Mahmic, Director, commented:
“Excellent team work, positive and open communication with the architect from our perspective, good will and very easy to work with all members of your team. Thank you.”
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
The site is subject to flooding during a 1:100-year storm event and so particular construction systems were adopted, as required by Council, including the electrical design.
