Extension of chilled water piping from under Broadway into the UTS building.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Total Construction was asked to install and commission an energy transfer station in UTS to link the Central Park CTP to the UTS Central Energy Plant.

Directional drilling was undertaken to allow pipe installation from Jones Street through to UTS building 02. We also installed and pressure-tested the HDPE pipe. This pipe transports chilled water to the building and used for cooling.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

We were working in a live environment with students and the general public. Safety was of the utmost importance as was reducing noise levels so as not to interrupt student exams.

INNOVATIONS

Our client had the benefit of our knowledge of the existing Central Park plant and the experience in implementing the energy transfer systems. This resulted in a rapid design development phase.
