Construction of a 3-storey 26 apartment affordable housing development

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This prestigious project comprises the construction of 26 two and three bedroomed apartments in Chermside, North Brisbane.

The structure is concrete suspended slabs and block work walls with the intention of long lasting and low maintenance design. The building features 6 ground floor units, a community lounge and office, 10 first floor units with a interlinking communal area and lobby which is mirrored on the second floor.

Each unit will have split system air-conditioning. To assist with the power usage a 20KW solar system has been incorporated into the building design. Each unit will have an individual energy monitoring device to assist residents in monitoring their power consumption.

One of the main aspects of the development is the soft and hard landscaping which includes a synthetic sports court, designated sports wall, netball ring and basketball hoop areas and playground.

A communal area will host an internal community lounge and an outdoor area complete with BBQ facilities with both loose furniture and feature hard landscaping seating designed specifically to provide an integrated space away from the units themselves focused on safety, security and positive interaction.

This is our fourth project with The Salvation Army, having completed aged care facilities in NSW and QLD previously.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

A local authority sewer diversion will be completed prior to construction works, making way for the basement excavation and 186 concrete piles.
