CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW 102 BED RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE FACILITY

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Construction of 102 bed Residential Aged Care Facility completed over 3 stages, during which the facility will be in full operation.

The first stage comprises of demolition of existing residential homes and construction of a new aged care facility (50 beds) with a basement for underground parking. Once complete, the residents from the existing nursing home will migrate across to the new facility so we can commence the second state.

During the second stage, we will demolish the existing nursing home and construct a new, aged care building (additional 52 beds).

INNOVATIONS

This project was very well documented at time of tender, however cost savings for the client include:

  • Utilising a change in the face brick used – original documented was very expensive.
  • Total had partnered with consultants to get consultancy fees down.
  • Innovation in using mobile cranes instead of tower cranes. This was cheaper for the client and a point of difference when tendering.

In addition, using mobile cranes will ensure that the neighbouring properties would not be imposed and thus creating better relationships between the client and residents.
