Alterations and additions to an existing Self Storage Facility
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Total Construction was awarded the Design & Construct contract for the redevelopment of Kennard’s existing Self Storage facility in Padstow.
The scope comprised of the demolition of an existing building and sections of other existing buildings, the design and construction of extensions to existing buildings, the installation of a new roof and the construction of a new awning.
Alterations were made to the existing storm water system and the existing driveway as well as the demolition of an existing hoist. A new hoist was installed to service the facility.
Landscaping works completed the scope with select tree removal and replanting in line with the DA approval.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
The main challenges were working within a live site, replacing driveways and keeping access open for KSS customers.
INNOVATIONS
Through the design stage, we identified an option to support the first floor slab with a structural steel portal frame.
