Upgrade of existing fire services at a strata community building
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Total was requested to upgrade existing fire services at a strata community building on Balcombe Road, Mentone.
The scope comprises the replacement of metal cladding to the common areas and the upgrade of the existing fire services.
Total managed the application of the building permit, council application for footpath fees, coordination of the fire sprinkler installation including additional access requirements and gas shut off valves to potential fire sources, being the external canopy public heaters.
The location of the building is on a busy street, close to the rail line and shopping precinct. Close coordination with the council as well as building occupants was paramount to ensure a smooth completion of works without disruption.
Work was completed whilst the building remained fully functional.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
Ensuring the health, safety and well-being of residents was our primary focus, along with completing the works as unobtrusively as possible.
Close liaison with residents and the client was crucial to the successfully delivery of this project.
This has been our third project with Select Owners Corporation (now Select Strata Communities).
