Refurbishment of an existing aged care facility.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Total Construction was awarded the project for the refurbishment to two buildings (Beechmont and Stradbroke) at the existing aged care facility.

The project involves a 4 stage build involving refurbishment works of 46 existing bedrooms and ensuites. All of the existing floor coverings, fixtures, fittings and paint works are being replaced throughout the project.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

The main challenge with this project is the bed movements and maintaining safety and construction efficiency within a fully operational environment. This will involve extensive consultation with the internal and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth build.

INNOVATIONS

The construction timeframe was reduced through sequence alterations and revised staging. Thorough site investigation prior to demolition works were also undertaken to identify existing portion of work that can be avoided in order to provide the client with cost savings.
