We are thrilled to be underway on our new Aged are project.
We are working with KOPWA, a community based, not-for-profit provider located in Roseville NSW constructing a new 102 bed Residential Aged Care Facility.
Here at Total, we understand the importance of having strong values that we live and breathe each day. We feel very fortunate to be working with a client whose values strongly align with ours! Total shares 3 out of KOPWA’s 4 values; Respect, Accountability and Integrity.
The project will be completed over 3 stages, during which the facility will be in full operation. The first stage comprises demolition of existing residential homes and construction of a new aged care facility with a basement for underground parking.
Once complete, the residents from the existing nursing home will migrate across to the new facility so we can commence the second stage. During this stage, we will demolish the existing nursing home and construct a new, connecting aged care building.
Stage 3 will be the conservation and fit out of the existing heritage home onsite.
Our team has a couple of challenges to overcome, one on which will be dealing with the local residents. Roseville is a largely residential area with many local neighbours opposing the development with concerns over construction noise, dust and street traffic during the life-cycle of the build.
A neighbourhood committee has been formed to meet fortnightly to ensure that the local residents feel as though they are being heard, along with monthly newsletters telling them of the progress of the project that will put their minds at ease.
Additionally, we are working with Sydney Trains. There is a train tunnel running directly underneath the site. Detailed risk assessments and Safe Work Method Statements were key to ensuring consent for construction was given.
Midson Group are the Project Managers on this project with whom we have had a long and successful working relationship with. We look forward to working with Midson Group (Project Managers) and KOPWA on this development.
