Design & Construct project comprised the expansion of the Residential Gardens Aged Care Facility, Rooty Hill.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The works included the construction of a new two-storey building with 22 resident rooms, physiotherapy facilities, an internal Winter Garden, and external landscaping which was in-keeping with the Spanish culture of the existing facility.

The new building complemented the clients open and colourful facility which offered ageing-in-place, respite and dementia care.

Construction works commenced in July 2016 with the site establishment and the subsequent civil and excavation works thereafter. The overall construction was complete in mid-2017.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

The risk of time over-run was managed through the introduction of time-saving construction methods such as the use of screw pile foundations, a Dincel load-bearing wall system, and prefabricated roof and wall frames. Through the use of these construction methods, the project team achieved a reduced construction program and provided the facility to the client ahead of schedule.
